St. Xavier’s college features International Torch Tour to commemorate Bhasha Dibas
News Correspondent, abptakmaa, Kolkata, 22nd Feb 2020 : ‘Sanyog 2020’ organised INTERNATIONAL MOTHER LANGUAGE DAY in association with St. Xavier’s College (Calcutta) Alumni Association and Bengali Literary Society of St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata. On the day International Torch Tour was to commemorate Bhasha Dibas and the objective was to commemorate the Martyrs’ of revolt for recognition of Mother Language, to foster the essence of various global languages and Cultural diversity and symbolic regal rally for Solidarity, Integrity, Prosperity and to ensure the involvement of students and youth.
This was tarted in the year 2015 with a vision to glorify the quintessence of Mother Language and to spread the awareness about diversified Culture through the power of students and youth. In these 5 years, the flame of the Torch has touched the roots of some of the greatest Institutions of the World, namely, University of Dhaka, Jahangir Nagar University, Bangladesh, University of Liberal Arts, Bangladesh, Govt. M M College of Jessore, St. Xavier’s College Mumbai, Jawaharlal Nehru University (New Delhi), The Tagore Society, Singapore, Singapore Bangladesh Society, BLCF and Hindi Foundation Singapore, St. Joseph’s College in Bangalore, St. Joseph’s College, Trichy, Indian Embassy Dubai, Bengali Associations of Dubai, Indian Association of Bangkok, Bangladesh Deputy High Commission Kolkata
The destination to be covered in Bangladesh are Central Shahid Bedi, Dhaka and University of Dhaka (Bangladesh), University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh, Jahangirnagar University (Bangladesh), National Martyrs’ Memorial, Savar (Bangladesh. In India St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous) Tiruchirappalli, Assam University, Silchar and Silchar Railway Station, St. Xavier’s College, Burdwan, St. Xavier’s College, Raghabpur, St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata.
On the closing ceremony of this SANYOG 2020 rally was on 21st February, at St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata where the Final lap of Torch Rally started from the St. Xavier’s College Boy’s Hostel, Beckbagan, starting at 10am to St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata and the torch was received by Rev. Fr. Dr. Dominic Savio, S.J., Principal of the College along with the dignitaries. The Guest for the closing ceremony was Hon’ble Minister in charge, Department of Forest, Govt. of West Bengal and Sujit Bose – Minister of State, Fire and Emergency Services (Independent Charge) & Forest, Government of West Bengal, eminent dancer Alokananda Roy, Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner Mr. Toufique Hasan, Kolkata were present as Special Guests.
