Basanta Utsav celebrated at P C Chandra Garden in association with foreign delegates with India Tourism

Ambar Bhattacharya, abptakmaa, Kolkata, 16th Mar 2020 : The Festival of colours, is being jointly organised by Association of Tourism Service Providers of Bengal and P C Chandra Garden, in association with India Tourism, Kolkata just a few days before Holi at The Maple Lawn. The event was inaugurated by Sujit Bose (Hon’ble Minister, Govt of West Bengal), Prabir Ghoshal (MLA, Chairman BTF), Sagnik Chowdhury (Regional Director, India Tourism, Kolkata).

Almost 200 artists performed to celebrate the Festival of Spring which is Holi. The programme started with colourful procession of artists-singing, dancing and playing musical instruments as well as Dandia with the Tagore song “Ore Grihabashi” like Basanta Utsav in Santiniketan. On the main stage Dohar presented Tagore songs as well as songs of the soil of undivided Bengal and North East with ethnic traditional folk musical instruments. Most of the songs was presented along with Dance performance.

Group Sreekol Baadan and Classical Dance forms like Manipuri and Odissi Dance was staged. Famous Pung (Manipuri Khol) artist Ratan Singh from Manipur presented a special performance. The artist from Srabani Sen Music Academy also presented few Rabindra Sangeet.

The ambiance was created to allow the artists to perform in the natural surroundings of P C Chandra Garden that gave the people a heady concoction of real music from our roots with rich pursuit to give pleasure to the foreign delegates from different countries present here.
