Bangla Canvas retail brand lifestyle launched its first outlet in Kolkata
Debkumar Mallick, Takmaa News, Kolkata, 20th Jan 2023 : Bangla Canvas, a Delhi based Bengali lifestyle inspired retail brand launched its first Kolkata outlet on the 5th of Jan 2023 in the heart of College Street – the cultural and literary hub of Kolkata. The outlet, named – Bangla Canvas Cafe – is a complete cultural experience zone serving Bengali cuisine based delectables while customers can explore a finely curated collection of handicrafts and handlooms by Bengal’s artisans and enjoy some cultural events and activities creating a perfect ambience for soaking in a unique blend of modernity and traditional cultural heritage.
On the opening day, guests were welcomed for a warm and casual get together on a chilly January evening to introduce them to the wonders kept inside the cafe. Guests from the literary, film and cultural spheres joined more in numbers to get the first glimpse of the cultural display by Bangla Canvas Cafe. They were offered the signature dish by Bangla Canvas Cafe chain – Fish Fry, Luchi and Kosha Mangsho – which Bangla Canvas aims to spread globally. While enjoying the crispiest fish fry in the town, the guests enjoyed some unplugged musical and literary performances. Noted Bengali film and television actress Poulomi Das graced the inauguration and satiated her love for Bengali food and culture. Noted author and columnist Ajitesh Nag was amazed by the display of the collection of books, handicrafts in a never-seen-before ambience hand crafted by Bangla Canvas on a traditional bustling Street of Kolkata.
Bangla Canvas wants the sweetness of the culture and heritage of bengal to reach out to millions of people – Bengalis and non-Bengalis alike across the globe. One can experience the complete cultural aspects by tasting the food and cuisine, shopping the art & crafts, reading the literary works, watching the films and videos, listening to the music and traveling across the beautiful places of Bengal. Joy, an IIT Kharagpur and IIM Kozhikode alumnus having close to 15 years of corporate and start up experience in leadership roles, founded Bangla Canvas with this vision and mission. Bangla Canvas opened their first cafe outlet in C R Park, Delhi – known as “mini Kolkata” because of a huge Bengalis settlement there. Within a few months, the cafe became very popular among the locals and they enthusiastically welcomed the concept. This successful beginning gave him the confidence and encouragement to spread the wings farther. In a span of few years, he wants to open more outlets and branches across the country and few select international centers in a race to reach out to more people introducing them to the wonderful world of food, art & crafts of Bengal!
