10th Edition of Tata Steel Kolkata Literary Meet 22 to be held from March 22 – 27

Ambar Bhattacharya, Takmaa, Kolkata, 19th March 2022: The 10th edition of Tata Steel Kolkata Literary Meet or Kalam will be held from March 22 – 27, 2022 at the magical backdrop of Victoria Memorial Hall and GD Birla Sabhaghar. The 6 days of spellbinding session will host some of the best literary minds across the country. The annual literary festival will also host enthralling performance every day in various art forms. GD Birla Sabhaghar will be the venue for the 2nd day of the literary meet – March 23.

This year the literary meet will be inaugurated by Padma Bhushan award winner renowned poet, lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar and will be sharing his views on multiple topics during the course of the festival. On the inaugural day Abhijit Vinayak Banerjee will be there to talk on good cooking, rather than good economics. Session will be held on celebrate centenary year of RK Laxman, Suhir Ludhianvi, Satyajit Ray. Works of legendary actor Soumitra Chaattopadhyay will be remembered by Madhabi Mukherjee, his daughter Poulomi Bose and Suman Mukhopadhyay. While noted stand up comedy artist Cyrus Broacha and Anuvab Pal will perform, they will also discuss the importance of laughter in pandemic area. Usha Uthup and Remo Fernandes will be unplugged and audience will have the chance to hear the untold stories. Noted author Kunal Bose will be present with his latest book. Screening of Goutam Ghosh’s short film on pandemic will be held during the festival.

This year’s edition of Tata Steel Kolkata Literary Meet coincides with 100 years of Victoria Memorial Hall. Session will be held to discuss Kolkata’s romance with memorial across the century and will also discuss on the legacy and collection of work of Abanindranath Tagore on hs 150th birth anniversary.

Notable performance that will be held during the 6 day long festival will be jugalbandi by Ustad Rashid Khan and Srijato on March 24. After a long time renowned Bharatnatyam dancer Mallika Sarabhai will grace the stage by her performance in the city in the backdrop of magical Victoria Memorial on March 25. The concluding day can’t get better than signing off with a discussion with Simi Garewal on her experience working with Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen followed by live performance by classical sitar maestro Ustad Shujaat Khan.
