A team of 6 women heading for “Kolkata Women Changemakers” to China under the leadership of Chaitali Das

Ambar Bhattacharya, abptakmaa, Kolkata, 19th July 2019 : Ms. Chaitali Das, Social Entrepreneur and Managing Trustee of Rakshak Foundation is leading a first of its kind, all Women Delegation to China supported by the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Kolkata form 20th – 27th July 2019. The theme of the Women Leadership delegation between West Bengal of India to Yunnan Province of China is “Kolkata Women Changemakers: Harbouring Hope, Fostering Growth.” The delegation will comprise of 6 women delegates namely Ms. Chaitali Das, Prof. Shabina Nishant Omar, Ms. Ghazala Yasmin, Dr. Dolly Gupta; Dermatologist, CA Anusri Sheth, and Ms. Vedika Jaiswal. The agenda of the delegation are poverty alleviation and women empowerment. We will be visiting places such as Kunming Luolong Residential Sub-District, Yunnan Minzu University, Yunnan Nationalities Village, Poverty Reduction program at Jinping County, Yunnan Women Entrepreneurs and Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre.We are aware of the vigorous participation of women in the workforce in China and how China is promoting Gender Equality by providing equal opportunities to women which has led to a participation of 66% of women in the country’s workforce. This Exchange Delegation will provide an opportunity to our Indian women leaders to interact with the women leaders in China and learn about the best practices that can be introduce among the Indian women to encourage them to join the workforce. Gender Equality is one of India’s priorities and this delegation would give an insight into how equal participation in all professions can lead to the Country’s development in all spheres. This delegation will also help in improving the bond between the two sister cities Kolkata and Kunming. It will provide an opportunity to learn about each other’s culture and work ethics. Since India and China have similar social and cultural issues it would be easier for both the countries to work towards the common problems collectively and effectively. Women leaders from both the Nations can jointly work towards Women Empowerment Programs in India and China.The Consul General of The People’s Republic of China in Kolkata addressed the press and flagged off the Delegation on 19th July 2019 at the Consul General’s Residence in Kolkata.
