India International Mega Trade Fair inaugurated by Governor of West Bengal
Ambar Bhattacharya, abptakmaa, Kolkata, 14th Dec 2019 : The most effective platform to build business links is through promotion of services and product suppliers that attracts global buyers and which happens through trade fairs. Trade fairs greatly facilitate generating new and innovative business ideas as they allow B2B and direct links with suppliers from countries across the globe. The aim is usually to enhance networking among industry members and help grow customers.
The 18th Edition of the India International Mega Trade fair (IIMTF) is being held between 13th to 25th December, 2019 at The Science City Grounds Kolkata .It is jointly being organized by The Bengal Chamber and GS Marketing Associates. The Opening ceremony of the India International Mega Trade Fair was held on 14th December, 2019 and was inaugurated H.E. Shri Jagdeep Dhankar, Hon’ble Governor Of West Bengal who was the Chief Guest.
Speaking at the inauguration the governor thanked LICI for it’s immense contribution. He also stated that The Bengal Chamber & GS Marketing have been doing it for 18 times and will continue to do so. The Trade Fair have immense potential and connectivity and the world is brought together by trade and culture and the city of joy is ideally suited for such interactions. West Bengal is a confluence of culture to attract people from foreign countries. Such economic activities has many dimensions and it contributes to growth of peace and harmony.
“We feel extremely honoured that so many exhibitors from across India and abroad have come together on this platform today not only to exhibit their products but to network and engage to ultimately grow economic value for the state and the country. This surely is an indicator of the potential of the state’s competitiveness as far as B2B and B2C business models in West Bengal are concerned,” stated Mr. B B Chatterjee, President, The Bengal Chamber.
” This year there is a 20 percent increase in overall participation and 15 percent increase in terms of foreign participation.From 1050 stalls there are 1250 stalls.For the first time Bhutan, Iran and Malaysia have joined. There are 12 stalls from Sri Lanka with embassy participation.About 65 stalls are from Afghanistan direct from Commerce Ministry. We expect good business like last year .Last year Afghanistan earned 15 million USD from this trade fair from Kolkata. The fair focuses on innovative ideas in Life Style, Handicrafts and Handlooms, Electronics, Interiors, International products, Food, Automobile, Education & IT, MSME, Jute Products, Tourism etc. The visitors include industry experts, professionals, business men, business women, distributors, wholesalers, dealers, importers, exporters, corporate, international houses etc.
“This is the 18th edition of the India International Mega Trade Fair and this year the partner countries are Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Various Government Departments and PSUs are participating. The focus countries are Bhutan and Sri Lanka.The highlighted countries are Thailand and Iran. The Partner states are Karnataka and Maharashtra. The focus states are Delhi and Jharkhand. In all there are 15 countries participating each with their unique products. The countries include Thailand, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Bhutan, Nepal, Egypt, Iran, Malaysia, Turkey, China, Ghana, Dubai and India. 21 states of India are participating. They are West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telengana, Gujarat and Rajasthan ., “stated Mr. Prakash Shah, Chairman,organising Committee, India International Mega Trade Fair and GS Marketing Associates.
