Painting says No to NRC and CAA at Park Circus maidan
Ambar Bhattacharya, abptakmaa, Kolkata, 14th Feb 2020 : On January 7, following the anti CAA gathering in Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh, some women from the largely Muslim neighborhood of Park Circus descended on the local park, expressing their anxiety, disappointment and anger about the Citizenship Amendment Act. Today eminent painter Wasim Kapoor joined these women. Some known faces such as Ashok Ganguli , Pabitra Sarkar, Bikas Ranjan Bhattacharyya, Md Salim, Abdul Mannan, Subhendu Maity, Srijan Bhattracharya, Pallab Kirtaniya, Dipali Bhattachartya, and so on were present to support this initiative. Oishi Ghosh was also present in this protest.
Mr Wasim Kapoor along with many artists created a 30 feet canvas assisted by their students. According to Wasim R Kapoor the act will divide the country on grounds of religion and the essence of unity will be ruined. The agenda for the protest is to take back the act. He also added that India is considered a country of huge diversities within the advent of CAA and NRC. This protest was supported by Kolkata’s creative community . Publicity : Launcherz.
