‘Save the Heart’, an initiative by Narayana Health and IBS

Narayana Health in association with IBS (ICFAI Business School) organized a Mini Marathon “Run for Heart” from IBS-K Campus .  The marathon witnessed the august presence of Shri Debashish Sen, Additional Chief Secretary, IT Department, Govt. of West Bengal & Chairman of Hidco. The initiative had been taken to raise awareness among every individual to stay fit and also about the increasing rate of heart diseases that sometimes lead to sudden death.

The main theme of the marathon was “Save the Heart”. The marathon was organized in order to spread the message of prevalent heart diseases and its preventive measures and focusing on exercises for having a healthy heart. The mini marathon was followed by a special zumba session by Zumba Education Specialist- Piu Mazumder. According to the Indian Heart Association, 50 per cent of all heart attacks in Indians occur under the age of fifty and 25 per cent of all heart attacks in Indians occur under the age of forty. However, combining health with social service, this run would play an immense role in enhancing fitness, wellness and awareness.

Speaking on the occasion, R Venkatesh, Regional Director, Narayana Health (East) said,” One of the major factors of increase in heart diseases among young individuals is the ongoing change in lifestyle. According to American Heart Association, 30 minutes of walking every day can improve blood circulation in the body and can prevent the risk of heart diseases. The main motive of getting associated with the mini marathon is spreading awareness to people about their cardiac heath and well being.” Publicity : Candid Communication.
