Disha Eye Hospitals Hosts The Third Edition Of Disha Samman 2020 for the blinds

News Correspondent, abptakmaa, Kolkata, 18th Sept 2020 : Disha Eye Hospitals, the largest state-of-the-art eye hospital of Eastern India, conferred the 3rd Disha Samman 2020 upon The Society For The Welfare Of The Blind over a brief ceremony today following all precautionary measures, at the auditorium of Disha Mahanagar in New Town, Rajarhat.The award is given to acknowledge the achievements of visually challenged people and also organisations which work towards the benefit of these people.

The Society For The Welfare Of The Blind, an NGO, received the award for the exemplary support that they have provided to the visually impaired people during the pandemic.

Disha Samman was handed over by Mr Debashis Sen, Chairman, HIDCO to Mr Biswajit Ghosh, Secretary, Society for the Welfare of the Blind in the presence of Dr Debasish Bhattacharya, Chairman & Managing Director, Disha Eye Hospitals.

“The pandemic situation has been challenging for all of us. One can very well understand the plight of the visually impaired during this testing times. It is really encouraging that the Society has come forward to help the blind. We, at Disha, feel proud to hand overDishaSamman 2020 to them”said Dr Debasish Bhattacharya, Chairman & Managing Director, Disha Eye Hospitals.

During the ongoing pandemic situationSociety for the Welfare of the Blindhad reached out to the visually impaired, who were rendered unemployed due to Covid, with basic rations so that they can survive. Till date more than 600 blind people have been served by them.

The Disha Samman consisted of a Plaque and a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000/-. Publicity : Sagittarius Communications.
