Kolkata Heroes in final against Barrackpore Bashers today at Bengal T20
Ambar Bhattacharya, Takmaa, Kolkata, 23rd Sept 2020 : Kolkata Heroes put up a dominating show to become the first team to reach Byju’s Bengal T20 Challenge finals by beating Durgapur Dazzlers by 11 runs at Eden Gardens.
The match was reduced to 10 overs per side affair and Durgapur put Kolkata to bat first after winning the toss. Kolkata amassed 106/5 in their quota of overs and their bowlers put up a dominating show to restrict table toppers Durgapur to 95/1.
Durgapur opener Abhisek Das and wicket-keeper Shakir Habib Gandhi’s 70-run partnership went in vain as Kolkata bowlers kept things tight. After skipper Abhishek Raman (4) went back early without contributing much Abhishek made 48 not out crafted with 2 sixes and 3 boundaries.
Youngster Shakir smashed a quick 33 off 24 balls but Kolkata pacers Alok Pratap Singh and Geet did not leave much room for mistakes in the last two overs to take the match away from Durgapur.
Earlier Kolkata lost their opener Aamir Gani (2) early off Sayan Ghosh while Karan Lal made 17 before being removed by experienced Aritra Chatterjee. Kolkata lost their big hitter Sougata Dutta failed to open his account after Aritra cleaned him up in the same over.
After losing 2 of their dependable batters Skipper Ritwik Roy Chowdhury played a quickfire 16 ball 32 containing 5 boundaries and 1 six to boost up the scoreboard.
Wicket-keeper Subhankar Bal and Geet Puri played crucial knocks to take the total to 106/5. Subhankar made 25 while Geet remained unbeaten on 21 after hitting 2 sixes.
