WEVOW Unveils a New Boutique in Southern Avenue — A Homage to Handcrafted Elegance

Ambar Bhattacharya, Takmaa News, Kolkata, 26th Jun 2025 : WEVOW, the Kolkata-based ethnic wear boutique, recently launched its newest store at No. 116 Southern Avenue, Post Office – Sarat Bose Road, Police Station Lake, Kolkata – 700029 (Behind Oudh, Opposite Pico, Vivekananda Park). Founded in 2017 by Arpita Bhattacharjee and Chiranjit Podder, WEVOW was born from a shared passion for Indian heritage and textile craftsmanship. The name itself reflects the brand’s founding promise — “we vow” to deliver beauty, comfort, and authenticity in every piece. Miss Sushmita Roy, Miss Universe India 2024 Runner-up, actor and model, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. With an existing outlet at Bangur Avenue, the new boutique extended the label’s vision to a wider clientele, offering handcrafted, luxurious ethnic wear with a distinct design voice. The store is open daily from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

Spanning 500 square feet, the Southern Avenue store blended old-world charm with thoughtful contemporary elegance. The space is divided across two levels: the ground floor is dedicated to daily wear, office-friendly pieces, and relaxed casuals, while the mezzanine floor offers a more indulgent selection of festive and bridal wear — from embroidered zardozi blouses to richly woven sarees. The boutique interiors feature a striking black-and-white chequered floor, soft ivory-toned walls, and antique brass chandeliers that cast a warm, timeless glow. Elegant wall sconces and carved mirrors enhanced the space’s boutique character, creating a serene yet sophisticated atmosphere that mirrors the brand’s design philosophy.

WEVOW’s collections are a tribute to artisanal excellence, featuring fabrics like raw silk, organza, Chikankari, Kalamkari cotton, Jamdani, velvet, and more. Their signature zardozi blouses with backless or front-open silhouettes remain showstoppers, while their saree range — from featherlight organza drapes to intricate French knot Tussar and heritage Jamdani — continues to evoke elegance and individuality.

The brand caters to women aged 20 to 50 who value cultural connection and craftsmanship. From brides-to-be and bridesmaids to global Indian women seeking expressive statement pieces, WEVOW offers clothing that is not just worn, but felt. Prices range from ₹1,299 to ₹8,999 for blouses, ₹1,999 to ₹14,999 for sarees, and ₹499 to ₹2,499 for curated ethnic jewellery, making the experience of heritage fashion both aspirational and accessible.

With this launch, WEVOW reaffirmed its commitment to making Indian fashion a living, breathing celebration — one where every thread carries legacy, every fit tells a story, and every woman feels both regal and rooted.
