A ‘Students’ initiative by JD Institute of Fashion Technology- Announces Virtual classes for students amidst COVID-19 Shutdown

Ambar Bhattacharya, abptakmaa, Kolkata, 20th Mar 2020 : The COVID-19 outbreak and the resultant uncertainty has impacted schools and educational institutes across India. Rising to the occasion, JD Institute Fashion Technology Indian has announced its full support to students so that the learning does not get effected.

Ms. Rupal Dalal, executive Director, JD Institute of Fashion Technology, said “We appreciate the government’s decision as an unavoidable and precautionary measure. We have also taken steps to ensure the safety of our students. We have started disinfecting the classrooms. All classrooms are being equipped with sanitizers and tissues. We have distributed free masks to staff and helpers of the institution. We have started virtual classes, where queries are taken online and will continue until the authorities announce a return to normal teaching.” 

Ms. Rupal Dalal serves as the Executive Director of JD Institute of Fashion Technology, which is an education division of JD Image Promotions Ltd. Having been established in 1988, JD Institute of Fashion Technology is today recognized as one of the pioneer and the major design institute in India.

Supervision of all academic departments, curriculum development, academic development, pedagogic growth, academic systems planning and designing & academic quality assurance has been her share of developments at JD Institute of Fashion Technology.

Her humanitarian concern is channelized through various CSR Activities like World Elders Day, Spastic society, Indian Cancer Society, JAGO, CWEI, etc. Apart from this, she has always been promoting for the welfare of animals like celebrating VEGETARIAN Day with a simple thought -We speak for the animals…‘because they can’t speak.

She has been awarded with “Smt.Sushila Agarwal Memorial Award” for her exemplary services to senior citizens for arranging fashion show every year. She believes that her contribution through education is a means to build the design future for the country.

Under the supervision of Ms. Dalal, JD Institute participated in Indian Cancer Society’s annual event ‘Rise Against Cancer’ in which jediiians took the initiative to raise awareness on cancer by undertaking multiple activities like cyclothon, walk, dance & song performances, survivors celebration, painting/art, corporate games, live music concert, etc.

Ms. Dalal has been instrumental in creating the modern field of fashion studies and in raising awareness of the cultural significance of fashion. Ms. Dalal evinces keen interest in the development of Indian fashion retail and adoption of sustainable practices in fashion development including craft cluster development. In academics her interest mainly lies in developing design curriculums and supporting systems of teaching, learning and mentoring.
