Audit & Assurance Conclave organized by ICAI and EIRC

Ambar Bhattacharya, abptakmaa, Kolkata, 25th Jan 2020 : The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and Eastern India Regional Council (EIRC) conceptualized and hosted its Audit & Assurance Conclave today at The Park, Kolkata with a special focus on Audit & Assurance functions performed by Chartered Accountants appointed by office of the CAG. This unique full day conference was organized under the aegis of the Audit & Assurance Standards Board (AASB) of ICAI. The event was supported by Office of the CAG and was widely participated by professionals from many public sector undertakings. Around 300 participants from Eastern India attended the event.

The event aimed towards gaining and dissemination of knowledge for further strengthening  professional values and skills of participants. It is an endeavour to maintain and develop competencies of the Chartered Accountants and Government appointed Auditors for enhancing their knowledge, expertise and skill sets in the auditing profession.

The Inaugural session was graced by Sri Venkatesh Mohan, Dy CAG; Sri Anil Jha, Chairman, Coal India Limited; CA G Sekhar, Chairman AASB of ICAI and CA (Dr) Debasish Mitra, Vice Chairman, AASB of ICAI. The welcome address was delivered by CA Sumit Binani, Chairman, EIRC in presence of the undermentioned Regional Council and Central Council Members of Eastern Region.

On this occasion, CA Sumit Binani, Chairman, EIRC stated, “Let us all enlighten ourselves by participating in such events, strengthen our values, sharpen our skills, disseminate our knowledge to the society, adopt and adapt to changes and conduct ourselves in a manner that we are known as a profession with a WoW which is nothing but EXCELLENCE. He also thanked Mr. Ajoy Kumar, Deputy Director from the Office of CAG 1, Kolkata and CA Sunil Kumar Mehta, GM, Coal India Limited, Kolkata for extending their whole hearted support in conceptualizing this unique event.

The Highlights of the event included the various Technical Sessions which were oriented in a manner to develop the various technical and operational aspects for a Chartered Accountant appointed by CAG to conduct audits of PSUs. Eminent Speakers at the event were CA Nilesh Vikamsey, Past President, ICAI; CA P R Ramesh, Partner Deloitte; Mr. Pankaj Datta, From CAG; CA Santanu Ghosh, Partner K S Aiyar; CA R S Balaji, Member, AASB, ICAI. The speakers diligently expressed their views on the various topics highlighting the various spectrum to be present within a Chartered Accountant engaged in Practice and working in Industry. Galaxy of Finance Professionals from PSUs including CA Sandeep K Gupta, Director Finance, IOCL; CA Pruthiviraj Dash, Director Finance, BCPL; CA Suvamay Halder, Member Finance, DVC; CA Sanjiv Soni, Director Finance, Coal India Limited; CA Sesh Vinay Sahi, Director Finance, NINL graced the Chair of the technical sessions at the event and shared their expert views on the topics of deliberation. The other eminent dignitaries from the Office of CAG who were present were Ms Mahua Pal, DG (Commercial), New Delhi; Ms. Suparna Deb, DG, MAB 2, Kolkata and Ms. M Ray Bhattacharya, DG, MAB-2, Kolkata.

Mr. Kedar Nath Mukhopadhyay who cleared his CA Final examination recently at the age of 66 years was also felicitated by the dignitaries at the inaugural session of the event.   Publicity : Media Connect.
