Indian Chamber of Commerce hosts ’10th Green Energy Summit Technology and Infrastructure Imperatives for attaining Net Zero’
News Reporter, Takmaa, Kolkata, 23rd Mar 2022 : On the road to attaining the goals of COP26 in Glasgow, Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has hosted the ’10th Green Energy Summit Technology and Infrastructure Imperatives for attaining Net Zero’ on Wednesday 23rd March on a virtual platform in the presence of eminent speakers such as Mr. Gireesh B. Pradhan, Former Chairman, CERC; Mr. Amit Jain, Senior Energy Specialist, The World Bank; Ms. Vartika Shukla, CMD, EIL and Mr. Subodh Agarwal, Addl Chief Secretary, Mines & Petroleum Department and Energy Department and CMD, Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Ltd and Chairman, Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. In light of growing energy demand and security concerns, all energy options should remain open and policymakers should avoid choosing “winners” and “losers.” There is no one-size-fits-all solution. A broad variety of energy resources and technologies will be required to meet the varying needs of individual countries or markets. Efficient implementation of integrated policies requires enabling frameworks supported by good governance that provide an attractive and secure investment environment. Moreover, governments, national or local, businesses, and other key stakeholders should work in partnership to provide sustainable energy services.
Mr. Amit Jain, Senior Energy Specialist, The World Bank mentioned during the conference, “Carbon emissions from the electricity sector account for a third of all emissions that is the reason economics worldwide are striving to achieve net-zero targets through the energy transition, electric mobility, green hydrogen, and individual decarbonization. By integrating Renewable energy with battery technology, RE will become less unpredictable and more controllable.”
Ms. Vartika Shukla, CMD, EIL added, “There is an ongoing demand for energy in India which is to be doubled in the next ten years. Thus, it becomes more important for us to save energy and proceed towards NET Zero as soon as possible with the help of industries as the demand never goes down. The battery technology has to be scaled up given the goal towards attaining NET Zero emission.”
