JIMSH & BBIT pays Tribute to Unsung Heroes of the media
News Editor, Takmaa, Kolkata, 8th Aug 2021 : Journalists plays an important role in our society as they are the bridge between the common people and Government. During this pandemic the media fraternity has served the nation unconditionally. Many journalists have lost their lives due to Covid 19. Keeping that in mind Jagannath Gupta Institute of Medical Sciences & Hospital (JIMSH) & Budge Budge Institute of Technology (BBIT)has taken an initiative to announce medical assistance to the deceased family members of Journalists who have lost their lives due to the deadly virus COVID-19 today in the presence of Mr. KK Gupta, Vice Chairman, JIMSH & BBIT, Dr. Kaushik Hazra, MD Assistant Professor, General Medicine JIMSH, Mr. Siladitya Bandopadhyay, Professor & Dean Diploma BBIT, Tulika Basu Actress along with Mr. Snehasis Sur President, Press Club at Kolkata Press Club.
In many situations we have witnessed violence against the journalists. This event was to acknowledge their work and to spread a strong message in society “why journalists are called the -fourth pillar of democracy”. The COVID-19 pandemic is a tough time for everyone, even after losing their close family members, Journalists have never failed to serve mankind. When the second wave was at peak they continued to work untiringly to keep us updated about the scenario. Through this programme JIMSH & BBIT have honored their spirit and dedication of handling the critical COVID situation from the ground zero.
Addressing the Media, Mr. KK Gupta, Vice Chairman, JIMSH & BBIT said, “A small helping hand during this time of crisis can be a blessing for some people. We have seen how journalists’ working day and night to serve the nation like the doctors are working to save lives. It is an immense pleasure for us that we are able to provide medical assistance to few of the families who have lost one of their family members due to the virus. We ensure our support to them during this uncertain time. We salute their bravery towards their profession.”
