PCRA and Oil Industry initiates SAKSHAM 2021 – the Oil & Gas Conservation Awareness programme virtually inaugurated by hon’ble Governor of WB
News Correspondent, abptakmaa, Kolkata, 18th Jan 2021 : Our Country is having limited resources of petroleum products and we have to resort to huge imports of around 80% which is mounting pressure on our import bill and foreign exchange reserves. Keeping in view the above fact Government of India along with oil companies and PCRA observe SAKSHAM (Sanrakshan Kshamata Mahotshov) on Oil & Gas Conservation awareness programme as a public awareness campaign every year.
Like every year, the Oil Industry under the guidance of Ministry of Petroleum & natural Gas is observing SAKSHAM-21 (Sanrakshan Kshamata Mahotsav ) from 16thJanuary to 15thtFebruary, 2021 in the entire country.
The tagline of SAKSHAM-2021 is “Green Energy and Clean Energy”
Saksham 2021 – Oil and Gas Conservation awareness programme was virtually inaugurated by Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal in the presence of Shri Pritish Bharat , State Level Coordinator ,West Bengal and Executive Director, WBSO of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd and senior officials from HPCL,BPCL and GAIL and Indian Oil and dealers of Oil Companies.
Speaking at the inaugural function Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal, the Chief Guest highlighted the issue of conservation of petroleum products and he also spoke about various conservation tips to be adopted in our daily life.
Shri Pritish Bharat, State Level Coordinator, Oil Industry West Bengal and Executive Director, Indian Oil in his address read the message Sri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister, MoPNG, Govt. of India and urged all for the efficient usage of valuable petroleum products.
The planned activities for SAKSHAM-2021 include (i) Bringing awareness about health hazards due to use of Bio Mass and appeal to stop use of Bio Mass and encourage use of Greener Fuels like LPG in rural areas (ii) Drive to make villages and towns Smoke Free (iii) Training of Drivers of commercial vehicles ( auto, Taxi & Trucks) for conserving diesel/CNG which will also help in reduction of the Green House and (iv) Motivation of students and youth for promoting Oil and Gas conservation and their contribution towards Clean and Green Environment. On 31st January 2021 Cyclothon Day will be celebrated across the country. Technical seminar and workshop on Oil Conservation will be conducted by Oil Industry.
The consumption of petroleum products in the financial year 2019-20 was about 214.13 MMT.
This annual mass education and awareness campaign once again brings into focus the compelling needs for us to conserve oil and gas that are non renewable natural resources. Publicity : Eastman Communications.
