The global COVID-19 pandemic has shown the world the important role that nurses play in keeping people healthy and positive . International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world every 12 May, the anniversary of Florence Nightangle’s birth . Narayan Memorial Hospital commemorates this important day yesterday to lift the sagging spirits of the nurses in a fun filled evening ,making the nurses participate in games, skits poetry sessions and singing .
Ms. Suparna Sengupta , Chief Executive Officer, Narayan Memorial Hospital said “ The pandemic has given us the opportunity to explore new models of care, where nurses are at the centre of our health systems. We can only achieve this vision of new care giving by generating new policies that is going to pave the way for new standards in health care .” She further added “ the nurses, who have worked selflessly will not go empty handed . We are recognising their work and as a result introducing welfare programs, which will be introduced in our hospital to encourage and rejuvenate them to take the servicing standards few notches higher .”
Speaking on the occasion , Nursing Superintendent, Mousumi Maiti said “ We are happy when we see that our efforts are getting rewarded . This will definitely help us to raise our standard at work and save lives . However, when we work , our sole goal is to save lives and see happy patient faces when home bound .
