Ambar Bhattacharya, abptakmaa, Kolkata, 13th Dec 2019 : Parthasarathi Varadachari, the 97-year-old is the eldest runner in Tata Steel Kolkata 25K
this year. The Alipore Judge Court resident going to run in the SENIOR CITIZEN’S RUN this year on TSK25K race day which is 15 December. Swimming was one of his favorite fitness activities. His date of birth is 15-11-1923. He is from Tamil Nadu, Nagapatnam, Sakai , schooling from Mannargudi and he did his service in Indian Railways(1948) surviving with son and daughter.
Parthasarathi being a villager , there were no roads and transport at that time , so I had to walk 8-9 miles. Even now I walk regularly in the artificial garden. Being mentally and physically fit is essential, nothing much he said. He was asked about his secrets to be fit he said, I have no secrets at all, whatever food is possible I eat, only age related problems which the railways hospital looks after. But about participating in TSK 25K he said, I am very happy to be a part of it. Read about it a lot in the newspapers and was eager to participate. I am very excited for it.
