Best Pan Asian Delicacies at the newest eatery CLUB URBAN TYRO
Ambar Bhattacharya, abptakmaa, Kolkata, 31st Jan 2020 : A tyro means a beginner or a newcomer, and so is Raunak Nath as he steps into the exciting world of hospitality with his very first venture, as the owner Club Urban Tyro. Located at the Ground Floor of the Old Sikkim House, it is a brand new addition to the ever-fascinating food scene of The City of Joy, right in the middle of the most glamorous part of the city. Growing up, Raunak was a foodie at heart and after graduating as a civil engineer from the United States, he knew he had to come to his own city to join his family business, but more importantly to pursue his dream of owning a restaurant in Kolkata.
Club Urban Tyro serves the most authentic Oriental and Chinese food, for which Raunak draws inspiration from the city’s very own, Chinatown and the much celebrated Chinese food from Tangra. ‘’Kolkata,” says Raunak, “has a taste for appreciating good Chinese food like no other place, which is why we created the food menu with utmost care to pick and choose only the most exclusive delicacies of the cuisine.’’ Be it the Truffle Cream Cheese Dumplings or the Chicken Black Pepper Dumplings, the Thai Corn Fritters or the delectable Dynamite Prawns, the selection of Oriental cuisine offered is truly one of a kind. From a plate of the Chilli Chicken Bao to a bowl of Chongqing Chicken Clay pot paired with Burnt Garlic Fried Rice, or even the Jafrani Kofte coupled with the classic Butter Naan, every item on their menu is a flavourful surprise! To top it all, Club Urban Tyro have a range of mocktails and shakes to go with the meal, including a good old KitKat Shake or a Peanut Butter and Nutella Shake, to wonderful mocktails like Bloody Tyro or the Luscious Litchi.
What’s most exciting is the week-long celebration of love with the special Valentine’s Menu that the Club is offering, with a lovely spread of items like the Thai Chicken Rose Dumplings, the Truffle Mushroom Dumplings and beverages like the Red Kiss, Sweetheart and many more on their tempting menu!
What stands out in this club more than anything else, is that unlike most restaurants specializing in serving the most authentic food of one particular cuisine, Urban Tyro also extends its food menu to a Tandoori and Indian section. So, don’t resist the temptation to indulge in a plate of delicious prawn dumplings or to celebrate the flavours of tandoor with kebabs and tikkas, because rest assured, no one will never seem to run out of options in this new hub in town, that apart from being rather reasonable and pocket-friendly, also maintains an interior that is as fancy and upscale as it gets. With the luxurious ambience of a top-end club, it accommodates as many as sixty people into the space, apart from which the club also has two private dining areas or rooms that can fit in and serve around ten to twelve people each.
Born and raised in Kolkata, for Raunak, as he says, “This is where my heart lies and there can’t be any greater joy than being able to create and open up a space for the people of my city to celebrate our very famous love for good food,” which George Bernard Shaw believed to be the sincerest love of all, as you will find him quoted on the menu itself!
