Pain management has now became the most essential treatment to reduce chronic pains

Ambar Bhattacharya, abptakmaa, 22nd Feb 2020 : Pain management is an exclusive branch of Medical science where latest treatment has been done to relieve various chronic pain (from knee & low back pain to the terminal pain of cancer). a most modern treatment of this discipline is Ultrasound Guided pain procedures,  which is very much effective for various pain management like treatment of knee pain at early stage.

For the training of Ultrasound Guided pain procedures, we the members of Daradia Pain Foundation are organising an Workshop on “USG in pain Medicine” at Daradia Pain Hospital New town Kolkata (only one Pain hospital of the country and one of the very few pain hospitals of the world) on 22nd and 23rd February. More than 50 specialist Doctors from different parts of India, Bangladesh, and Nepal are joining the program. Participants will get hands-on experience on volunteers and on specially designed models (phantoms). They will also be demonstrated about how to diagnose specific pain conditions under ultrasound guidance and how to perform the pain interventions under real-time ultrasound imaging.

Regenerative Medicine used in PRP therapy is a kind of pain. It is observed in the study that Regenerative Medicine can cure osteoarthritis knee if it started at an early stage. Osteoarthritis knee is a common disease affecting the quality of life of patients of older age groups. Existing treatment for Osteoarthritis is exercise and medication at the earlier stage and Knee Replacement at a later stage. Knee replacement is a costly affair and beyond the reach of most of the common people in a country like India. Regenerative medicine especially PRP therapy is gaining popularity all over the globe in treatment of osteoarthritis, if the treatment started at an earlier stage.  Most of the injections are done under ultrasound guidance. Platelet-rich plasma is blood plasma that is enriched with platelets. As a concentrated source of platelets prepared from the blood of patient, Platelets function as a natural reservoir for growth factors that are essential to repair injured tissues. The growth factors that the platelets secrete stimulate tissue recovery by increasing collagen production, enhancing tendon stem cell proliferation, and tenocyte-related gene and protein expression. These growth factors also stimulate blood flow and cause cartilage to become firmer and more resilient. PRP activates tenocytes to proliferate quickly and produce collagen to repair injured tendons, ligaments, cartilage, and muscles.
